Which setup do you have?

Amiga
Mac
OS/2
Sun
Windoze

The reason I ask is because each one needs different things done to it in order to make it play .au sound files. In most cases you'll need to grab some files and set up your computer to use them. Trust me, it's not too hard.

Amiga

Using a program called OmniPlay will do the trick. It's capable of playing any sound file on the Amiga. I have tested it with Amiga Mosaic, and it worked fine.

Mac

I hear SoundMachine is the player to use - now go put those web searche engines to good use!

OS/2

If you have some drivers and files please send them to me or give me a link of somebody that has them - otherwise sorry.

Sun

It should be already set for you, but just in case..... You may need to verify that you have a .mailcap file with the following line in it:

audio/x-wav; some shell script that will convert the .wav file to a .au file and then play it %s
audio/*; audiotool %s

This will spawn an audiotool for every sound you click on. It also helps to have a speaker and a /dev/audio, or at least a headphone jack and some headphones.

Windoze

First off, I'm sorry you're stuck with this software. But there's nothing I can do about that.... so first off, grab the PC speaker driver if you don't have a sound card, then the.au player (wplany.exe), and finally the help file. Basically, you'll want to install the PC speaker driver, then put wplany.exe somewhere, then set up your web browser to use it. For Netscape it's under the Options/Preferences menu, then Helper Applications. For Mosaic you have to edit the mosaic.ini file.
